Leelawati Munshi Destitute Children's Home

UPCCW is running Leelawati Munshi Destitute Children Home at Moti Nagar, Lucknow.  The home has capacity to lodge 75 children. Most of the inmates of the home are girls. The home has full arrangements of lodging, boarding and education of the children. The children attend local schools for their education.

For the overall development of the children, they are kept in familial environment in the home. Because of a feeling of safety, the children are happy and healthy. Girls are being trained in handicrafts and music. Arrangements have been made to impart vocational training related to tailoring. Some of the girls have been married and they are leading happy married life.

A multi-pronged strategy for rehabilitation of the inmates is adopted. This involves handing over the children to the guardians and parents and marriage of eligible girl inmates. Quite often the children are shifted to other institutions too.

The children home has a supervisor, a house mother, a cook, a sweeper and a watchman. For music training there is a trained music teacher. For educational support there is a full time teacher.
